Based in Eastern NC — always willing to travel.
I've loved photography since the first time I picked up a camera. I'm drawn to the things that don't sit still — wildlife, motocross, cars, and the split-second moments people work hard to create.
Most of what I shoot happens outdoors, in weather, at speed, or under load. That suits me. The pictures worth having are usually the ones that were hard to get.
How Wildside started
I went to a strongman competition to photograph a friend. I ended up shooting the whole event and handing the gallery over to the gym afterwards.
Then the competitors started asking where they could find their own photos. My wife had been telling me for a while to build a portfolio and take it seriously, and I kept saying nobody wanted to see my work. Judging by her grin that day, she enjoyed being right.
What keeps me doing it is the reaction when someone opens a picture of themselves doing something they worked hard for. That is the whole job, really.
What I look for
The moment just before or just after the one everybody expects. The competitor catching their breath between events. The rider setting up for the corner rather than clearing the jump.
I would rather come home with twelve hundred frames and find the four that matter than play it safe and get forty that are fine.
I shoot fast and I stay out of the way. You should not notice me working.

Working together
Events, team shoots, and portrait sessions. Turnaround is usually a week for a full event gallery, faster for smaller sessions. Tell me the date and what you need and I'll tell you straight away whether I'm free.
Event galleries go up online for everyone who was there, free to download. There's a tip link if a shot meant something — it covers fuel, cards, and the next event.
